THE BARGAINING COUNCIL FOR THE NEW TYRE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY.
The Bargaining Council For The New Tyre Manufacturing Industry was established in 1994.
The Bargaining Council serves a body to determine wage and benefit structures as defined in the Council’s Recognition agreement and constitution. It also serves as a forum where issues of mutual interest are discussed amongst the members of the council, with a view of strengthening relationships and to enhance the new tyre manufacturing industry.
The parties to the bargaining council are the five (5) companies that manufacture new tyres in South Africa and two of the largest unions in South Africa.
The parties meet quarterly every year or more regularly as required, to discuss issues of mutual interest. Wage negotiations are typically conducted on a 3-year cycle, but is subject to agreement amongst the parties.
